This is a Rochester Optical Premo View 8x10 field camera.

This (Quite Rare to find series in 8x10) large format camera has an amazing super compact design similar to that of a Deardorff - and was in fact associated with Deardorff at the time of its creation. The camera is made of mahogany wood with silver hardware and offers a more modern type metal tripod base (more similar to a Deardorff) on its bottom too.

It has a has a design that offers front and rear tilt movements, a front rise, with 2- geared focusing base movement controls (one for the front and second for the rear standard) too. 12"h x 12.5"w x 4.5 d The set comes exactly as shown and consists of all shown too: The camera Body is in very nice condition showing some wood rubbing and marks; the bellows need repaired or replaced for use as they have holes and are deteriorating.

This camera body looks very good and shows some wear and age with a slight bottom wood splitting on its rear standard.. The camera's movements look to work well : the front rack and pinion type focusing works nicely with a good working knobs.

The front rise work well, the front tilt works properly, the rear tilt works properly. The front Rochester Optical label on the front standard is a bit faded. The camera extends to approx. 30" inches (front standard to rear standard) " long. The camera comes with its proper fitting 8x10 back that can be used horizontal and vertical.

The back seems to attach securely with some pins that look to have been updated and some wood chipping but looks to fit light tight. The ground glass has a nice finish showing very faint marks with some minor edge chipping This camera comes with an un-drilled (believe it shows 2D on it) lens board that fits the camera (has been stained more brown in color). The board properly fits the camera and not sure if ever used? With a nice tight fit to the camera. This is a beautiful VERY Uncommon very large format camera that will make someone a WONDERFUL camera for the collection or for use.. This set comes exactly as shown - I have tried to document everything as much as possible to show this item as good or better than having it in your hands....
