Phase One wanted access to the Dalsa Sensor CCD technology. And because Leaf had more than 10 years experience with Dalsa, this was the perfect partnership. Owning a Leaf Aptus-II back meant access to Free use of Capture One Pro DB for Mac and Windows. The backs work tethered with Capture One Pro 6.

X through to Capture One Pro 12.0.4 on Mac and Windows, later versions can still edit the Leaf RAW files. This Aptus-II 8 has the V fit adapter designed for Hasselblad V fit cameras, and can be rotated from landscape to portrait. The sync cable provided makes the connection from the back to the lens, the back has it's own PC socket so you can still trigger your flash. The Dalsa sensor is unique among sensors, as it is an active sensor, this means that it is permanently on and ready to shoot. So unlike other digital backs, the Leaf Aptus does not require a wake up signal or the back to be in zero latency. This make the Aptus a much more reliable solution when using manual cameras. Note overheating is not an issue as a fan and aluminium body (heat-sink) work tirelessly to keep the sensor cool. The Aptus-II uses the FireWire 800 connection for tethering, if your Mac or PC has FireWire 800 port then tethering is a reliable and fast connection. If your Mac does not have a FireWire Port then you will need to invest in a FireWire 800 Powered repeater and additional cables / adapters, if you need these let me know and I can help supply. The Aptus-II 8 is a cropped sensor, with a x1.3 lens factor. So an 80mm lens on a 645 camera would in effect be more equivalent to a 100mm. Popular cameras include the Mamiya RZ, Sinar P2/P3, Linhof, Silvestri, Arca-Swiss, Alpa, and Cambo. The back is offered in excellent working condition, I have tested it with FireWire and Compact Flash Cards and all works perfectly. The back has had light use and only has 4075 total frames.
