Zeiss Planar C 80mm f/2.8 lens. More magazine covers have probably been shot with this combination than any other. The camera is an engineering masterpiece and the lens one of the most legendary from Carl Zeiss.

This lens is sharp across the plane with the typical neutral Zeiss color rendering, awesome shadow details and strong micro contrast. This is the earlier C model which was made entirely in metal and glass. Later versions had identical optics but more plastic.

The camera is in beautiful condition with only limited signs of use. Hard to find a professional vintage camera in such nice condition. Cosmetically I would say it is near mint. Please inspect my well lit images carefully as they offer you accurate representation of the cosmetic condition. A12 back is nice as the body and with matching serial numbers of the insert and the case. The lens is in excellent condition. Optics are overall super clear and free of scratches, cleaning marks, haze or fungus. It has some dust typical for the age, but nothing that shows up in images.

The depth of field preview lever seems to be stuck so that doesn't work. I have never used the feature (on any camera) and the view finders gets very dark when stopped down, so for most users it is a totally ignorable feature. The focus ring is precise and free of play. It might be a bit on the tight side but annoyingly tight. I've had lenses come straight from servicing this tight so it is within'personal preferences'.

Lens shutter hits all speeds accurately according to my measurements, including the slow speeds. Focusing screen is in good condition. If you have any questions, I will happily answer all emails. Please just always contact me directly if you wish to return an item.
